CCR was dubbed the hit machine. They produced more hit singles than even the Airplane or the Eagles I think. Anyway this is a great album to start with. I am looking for their entire studio collection right now.
Lynyrd Skynyrd - I saw them in concert twice - 1998 in Memphis & Jan 2000 in Florida. Sad that the Band lost most of the original members through an accident. But their music has held the rest together over the years. My favorites are "Free Bird", "Simple Man" and "The Ballad of Curtis Loew".
ABB luckily managed to keep their wits together after the tragic loss of Duane Allman & Berry Oakley. Duane Allman is considered one of the great slide guitarists - listen to "Whipping Post" or "Midnight Rider". The new lineup is also pretty good with Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts, Jaimoe & Butch Trucks from the original one. Derel Trucks is considered a worthy succesor to Duane Allman.
Meat Loaf - You would have seen him in movies (the new "Fight Club" movie) & MTV. Well, his studio work is amazing too and the web site below is a must for any serious fan. Check his albums from the 70s first.
ELP is more a progressive rock band with their influences from classical music to psychedelic music. "Then & Now" is a pretty interesting collection - you get the best of both worlds, their 70s performance & their latest performance.
Bad Company was the first to be signed for the Swan Labels of Led Zeppelin. Managed by the notorious Peter Grant, they went on to great success. They have regrouped recently with the original lineup.
